Rebolting
This page is all about replacing old, dangerous climbing protection for the good of the greater
community. If you have climbed at Courtwrite Reservoir, the Needles, Dome Rock, the Kern
River Canyon, Chimney Rock or Great Falls Basin in the past year, the chances are you have
clipped a bolt with ASCA stamped on the hanger. There are many other destinations where
American Safe Climbing Association continues work (such as Yosemite, Red Rocks, Joshua
Tree, Owens River Gorge) but the above destinations are some of the places where we have
worked. We do rebolt projects with the ASCA to keep our Southern Sierra destinations safe.
To clarify a common misconception, bolts are always replaced 1 for 1. If you suspect there
have been added bolts, please contact us.  None of our rebolting success would be possible
without the ASCA. Please consider giving some help to this awesome organization. For any

The SSCA has replaced bolts at the following locations. For more details,
click on the place name, and the American Safe Climbing Association will
keep you informed. Many of the routes rebolted by the ASCA were done
with the help of SSCA folks and other hard-working volunteers. Check
out the ASCA and thank them for the work that they do for us. The
ASCA website is also a good source of info for anything you would ever
want to know about rebolting.
